🔎 Health Literacy Spotlight: Did You Know?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) turned 15 on March 23, 2025! The ACA was a landmark healthcare reform law that was spearheaded and signed by President Obama 15 years ago. It dramatically expanded coverage for Americans by lowering the cost of health insurance, protecting consumers, and requiring qualifying organizations to provide plans for employees. Moreover, under the ACA, young adults can remain on their parents' health insurance plan until they turn 26 (previously, the limit was 19 or 23 years)!

The ACA also set up the Health Insurance Marketplace for individuals and families to purchase health insurance in their state. By providing Americans with the tools they need to obtain coverage, Obamacare works to empower individuals and ensure a healthy country.
